Classroom Guidelines
Grading System
Grades will be based on the following:
- Major Grades (Tests, projects, etc.) 50%
- Minor Grades (Homework, Class work, quizzes, etc.) 50%
Supplies
- Binder
- Grading Pens (no blue or black ink)
- Pencils
- Notebook Paper
Test Corrections
Every student has an opportunity to retake a Major Test if they made below a 70 on it. However, he/she must do the following in order to retake it:
o Make test corrections
o Attend a tutorial session
7th Grade Syllabus
1st Nine Weeks
My child should be able to:
- solve real-world problems by using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of different kinds of numbers.
- find and show constant rates of change from different representations (tables, graphs, verbal, numbers, algebra)
- find solutions to problems involving rates, ratios, and percents.
2nd Nine Weeks
My child should be able to:
- solve problems involving scale drawings and similarity.
- solve problems using different types of graphs (dot plots, bar graph, circle graph)
think about what should happen in a probability situation.
3rd Nine Weeks
My child should be able to:
- show linear relationships in different ways (table, graph, verbal, equation).
- find solutions to problems involving the volume of prisms and pyramids (triangles and rectangles).
find the circumference and area of circles.
solve area problems.
- use models to solve equations.
4th Nine Weeks
My child should be able to:
- solve problems using different types of graphs (dot plots, bar graph, circle graph)
compare the shapes, center, and spreads of two dot plots and two box plots
8th Grade Syllabus
1st Nine Weeks
My child should be able to:
- order a set of real numbers from real world situations
- use data from a table or graph to determine the rate/slope and y-intercept
2nd Nine Weeks
My child should be able to:
- identify functions using sets of ordered pairs, tables, mappings, and graphs.
- write an equation to model a linear relationship.
- solve problems involving the volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres.
- determine if a triangle is a right triangle using the Pythagorean Theorem
3rd Nine Weeks
My child should be able to:
- use algebraic representations to represent dilations on a coordinate plane.
- use a trend line to help make predictions.
- solve problems involving lateral and total surface area of prisms and cylinders.
- represent transformations algebraically for the coordinate plane.
- find the similarities and differences between simple and compound interest earnings.
